How To Clean Outdoor Swing Cushion – A outdoor swing evokes the simple pleasures, there used to be a time when sitting on the front porch of your home waving at the neighbours was just normal. The classic white front porch swing is really becoming something of an anomaly now. In its place is the backyard outdoor as the place to hangout, relax or swing until your heart’s content. But, cushions on the outdoor swings are subject to all kinds of mishaps, but from food spills, dirt and debris, or even bird droppings, make your cozy corner less inviting. Most upholstered furniture is constructed of durable, synthetic fabrics, which are made for easy care and maintenance. Clean the cushion a couple of times each season and store it in a dry garage, basement or building when the autumn weather arrives.
Remove your outdoor swing cushion and place it on a solid surface, such as a clean driveway or outdoor. This will make it easier when cleaning them so you do not have to worry about damaging the porch swing or other surface. Vacuum the pads to remove dust and debris or shake them out of the yard. Some cushion covers are removable. Take the cushions off and wash them in the washing machine with a mild detergent. Air dry and replace them. Mix 1/4 cup of laundry detergent to a gallon of warm water in a bucket. Dip a scrub brush in the solution and gently scrub pads. Rinse them thoroughly with a hose and let them air dry in the sun. Replace the pads on the swing.
Add 1/2 cup of bleach in the water on your outdoor swing cushion heavily stained or mildewed. Flip the cushions over several times each season so the pads are worn evenly on all sides. Some outdoor fabrics are treated with a stain resistant, water-repellent product. Apply this product as necessary every five years or after heavy cleaning.
